The day after Christmas, we head out to begin the construction of the log walls.

The logs are held in place with 12-inch lag screws. We used an air-powered impact wrench to drive the screws into the perimeter box.

Malinda drives the first screw on the first log. We have a start!

Unfortunately, the air-powered impact wrench did not work as well as we had hoped. It was so cold that the compressor was not able to deliver enough pressure.

But after a struggle, the first row is down and we are ready to stack the second row.

The corners are notched and fit together "just like a 'Lincoln Log' set".

Malinda is pleased with getting the first row done and celebrates by modelling her spiffy construction outfit.

Next: On to the second row!
