Local governments require permits and inspections to ensure that construction projects will meet code requirements. The code requirements are designed to ensure that the structure will be safe and stable.

Code, permits and inspection requirements vary widely from one jurisdiction to another. We will not attempt to detail these, but we will be offering general guidelines, based on our own experience with the process.

The old saying about "the job isn't finished until the paperwork is done" applies here except that in many cases, the job doen't even start until the paperwork is done.
