Working Safely
Safety should be a priority whether you
are doing the work yourself, or you are paying someone
else to do it.
Obviously, you don't want to be hurt in
the process of building your log home and, if you hire
others, you have a certain responsibility to provide
a safe working environment for those who you hire.
Where your own safety is concerned, it
is important that you understand the kinds of hazards
that will be present on your job site and learn how
to protect yourself from those hazards.
Doing that - leading by example - is one
of the first steps to providing a safe working environment
for others who are working on your project.
Some of the areas we will be discussing
in the future are:
Tool safety
Personal protective equipment (PPE) including:
- Eye protection
- Hand protection
- Foot protection
- Head protection
Fall prevention
Weather hazards:
- Heat stress
- Cold stress
and more.
